Upon your arrival in Mauritius, you will immediately check into the stunning L’Auberge de St. Aubin. You will spend your first afternoon exploring the expansive estate or simply relaxing by the inviting pool.
Significantly, this accommodation is a traditional, four-room colonial house located in the authentic South, offering you a unique chance to experience the 1810 way of life in Mauritius (updated with modern comforts like running water and Wi-Fi, of course!). This true gem of cultural heritage sits within the Domaine de St. Aubin. Therefore, as a guest, you gain access to the delightful kids’ farm and playground, the fascinating artisanal rum distillery, and the aromatic vanilla plantation right on the estate.
Day 2: Sensory fun & Guided Estate exploration
Today, you will enjoy a fascinating guided visit that fully explores the beautiful Domaine de St. Aubin. This promises to be a fun and sensory start to your Mauritius adventure for the entire family. Specifically, you will have the chance to meet the friendly farm animals and explore the fragrant vanilla plantation. Furthermore, for the adults, this experience includes the opportunity to sample the locally made rum at the estate’s distillery. This is truly a hands-on day that engages all the senses.
Day 3: Coastal trek and Basaltic cliffs
Today, you will experience a true slice of untouched heaven with a local guide leading a beautiful coastal trek. This adventure will immediately fascinate you with kilometers of unspoiled beaches and dramatic basaltic cliffs, offering the perfect balance between an adventurous exploration and a sandy escape. Specifically, your guide, JB, will walk you through the famous natural spots of Le Souffleur and Pont Naturel, passing through small forests and pristine, virgin beaches along the way.
Day 4: Leisure & local exploration
Today offers a relaxed day specifically designed for your family to explore at your own comfortable pace. You might choose to visit a nearby beach—we highly recommend our favorite, La Cambuse! Alternatively, you could explore the charm of Mahébourg or simply enjoy the tranquil, calm atmosphere of the guesthouse itself. Furthermore, if your children particularly enjoyed spending time at the Domaine de St Aubin farm, you are welcome to return and visit your favorite animals again.
Day 5: Ebony reserve conservation and views
Today, you will experience the impressive conservation work at the Ebony Forest Reserve, where the team has successfully re-populated 60 hectares with the original flora and fauna of Mauritius. Specifically, a knowledgeable guide will lead your family through this restored environment on the Flycatcher raised walkway (1.3 km). During this guided excursion, you will admire the endemic forest and observe the unique living creatures that thrive here.
Subsequently, a thrilling safari jeep ride will transport your family up to the Sublime Point, a truly jaw-dropping viewpoint that offers panoramic views of the entire west coast of Mauritius. Furthermore, your meaningful visit includes a delicious locally-sourced lunch and the special opportunity to plant an endemic tree, contributing directly to the island’s ecological future.
Day 6: Eco lodge Glamping and Mountain-river retreat
Today, you will check out from St. Aubin and head east to your stunning new accommodation: an eco-lodge nestled beautifully between the river and the mountains. You will immediately settle into your spacious tent, marking the start of a unique glamping experience in the most eco-conscious and original way.
Expect dry and cozy nights thanks to the well-equipped and elevated tents, each featuring a private bathroom. Furthermore, you will enjoy an array of ecotourism activities in this privileged location, including access to the pool, kayaks, and scenic nature trails, right after settling in.
Day 7: Lagoon beaches
Today, your family can choose between two fantastic, active, family-friendly water options. You can either take the early boat shuttle to Île aux Cerfs, famous for its pristine beaches and calm, shallow lagoons. Alternatively, you can grab a kayak for a thrilling, self-guided paddle through the mangroves. On this kayaking adventure, you might even spot playful monkeys and fruit bats as you head toward the nearby Grand South-East River waterfall. Both choices ensure everyone gets active and enjoys the beautiful Mauritian waters!
Day 8: Leisure

Whether you choose to relax by the pool, stroll the nature trails, or simply soak up the calm atmosphere between the river and the mountains, this day is all about recharging and savoring the beautiful surroundings at your own pace.
Day 9: Kayak Adventure and Snorkeling
Today, you will paddle your double-kayaks across the lagoon to reach the beautiful Amber Island. First, you will navigate through the thick canopies of mangroves, offering a unique perspective of the ecosystem. Subsequently, you will enjoy a refreshing snorkeling session in the island’s natural aquarium, experiencing the vibrant marine life. Finally, you will land on the island to explore its ruins and historic surroundings, where you will enjoy a local energy snack provided by your knowledgeable guides.
Day 10: Basket work and Mauritanian artisan
Today offers a wonderful opportunity to engage in a unique local craft with Fabiola, our ever-smiling host. Several years ago, Fabiola decided to revive the dying craft of vacoas braiding, a skill she now shares with you. Specifically, she will teach you how to braid the dried leaves of the “vacoas,” a native palm-like tree. You will actively participate in the whole process, beginning with the slicing of the leaves, continuing through the meticulous weaving, and finishing the piece. Ultimately, you will create your own unique vacoa artwork, such as a small box or a one-of-a-kind photo frame.
Day 11: Departure
Today marks the end of your unforgettable family adventure in Mauritius. You will check out of your accommodation and prepare for your departure. A comfortable private transfer or your hired car will take you to the airport, ensuring a smooth and seamless transition for your flight home.
