Itinerary
Day 1: Travel from Kampala to Kibale
In the morning, you will depart from Kampala and head west to Fort Portal. This lovely town rests in the shadow of the fabled Mountains of the Moon and is famous for the many tea plantations. From Fort Portal we will continue to Kibale National Park for a stay within the tropical forest.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale
Tracking the Chimpanzees is a very interesting experience. Get your hiking shoes on as we move through bush and jungle to spend one hour observing our fascinating relatives. Enjoy a guided nature walk in the tropical rainforest in search of the wild chimpanzee, red-tailed monkey, black-and-white colobus monkey and many others. Later in the day, you will move to the Bigodi Swamp for another, totally different nature walk. The Bigodi Swamp Walk is an initiative of the local community and takes approximately two hours. The swamp is known for its rich diversity of birds and primates.
Day 3: Travel from Kibale to Bwindi
In the morning you will visit the crater lakes area with some stunning views, before continuing to Mbarara to Bwindi. There are 57 crater lakes in the area and …The scenic route runs through a verdant countryside while you pass traditional homesteads and farms.
Day 4: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi
Hikers will love the tracking in the beautiful ecosystem of the park. It is difficult to foresee how many hours you will hike, it may take two to eight, and it all depends on where the gorilla family you are tracking is that day. Expect to walk a long distance in steep and muddy conditions, sometimes with rain overhead, before you encounter any gorillas. But it will definitely be worthwhile as you observe them closely while they eat, play and rest. A unique and unforgettable experience! For conservation purposes, time spent with the gorillas is limited to one hour. The ranger guide always briefs you on how to behave with these amazing giant apes. It is an experience you will never forget.
Day 5: Travel from Bwindi to Lake Bunyonyi
Lake Bunyonyi takes its name from the abundant birdlife that call it home. Over 200 species are found here, including herons, weaver birds and grey-crowned cranes. Lake Bunyonyi is framed by lush, green-terraced hills that reach a height of 2,200-2,478m, but it’s the 29 islands of various shapes and sizes scattered across the water that make it most magical, worthy to be admired all day. It’s a sight that reinvents itself every hour or two with the ever-changing climate and direction of the sun. Enjoy the rest and relaxation from the primates at the beautiful scenery in the whole world.
Day 6; Lake Bunyonyi to Kampala.
We start the long but rewarding drive back to Kampala. On our way we will pass Mpigi village, famous for the Royal Drums Makers and of course the Ugandan Equator, where you can take pictures and shop for a souvenir. With lunch on our way we will reach Kampala at the end of the day.
Day 7: City tour.
After breakfast, start off your day by touring the Kampala city. The city has many attractions, destinations and tourists activities ranging from events to prime time venues and hotels, that’s why it’s referred to as the East Africa’s happiest city. The city boasts of many attractions visitors warmly explore everytime they visit Uganda; including the Uganda museum,Kasubi Tombs, Kabaka’s Lake, Bulange Mengo, Kabaka’s palace (Lubiri, Mengo), the Uganda National Cultural Center, various religious centers like Bahai Temple, Kibuli & Gadaffi Mosques, Namirembe Cathedral, Rubaga Catholics Cathedral. Later in the day,you will be transferred to the airport depending on your time for the flight.
